2006 (Announcement) Classic Design Models Retired- The innovations of our new Flat Deck bricking machines and our continued goals toward safe cost effective refractory kiln maintenance has allowed us to retire some of our older models: Mult-O-Ring, Mult-O-Ring Flex, Expand-O-Ring-8, and Expand-O-Ring-6. Although they will no longer be in production, we continue to provide all the necessary parts and after sales support as has always been the case. These can be built upon special request. If you happen to own one of these models and are interested in the new Flat Deck machines, feel free to contact Daniel Chavis or Bill Barraugh regarding a trade in.
1/1/2005 (Announcement) Change in cylinders used on bricking machines - Starting in 2005, the cylinders for Bricking Machines changed. The cylinder shaft (fig. 1) which has
in the past been 3/8” is now 1/2”. This change was due to supply issues, our confidence remains in
the 3/8” shaft cylinders that are still employed. This change will begin to affect replacement parts in
2006 however and that is the reason for this information piece.
12/17/03 (Announcement) Two Potential
Safety Issues - There are two potential safety issues that
have been brought to our attention recently we wish to address with
our clients. With the advent of two shapes of brick, older bricking
machines are commonly being overloaded by placing a second pallet of
brick on the machine deck. In addition, some clients are using the bricking
machine casters as brakes by turning them perpendicular to the kiln.
Both issues have the potential of damaging the bricking machine frames
posing unnecessary safety risks as well as adding significant down time
to an outage. More
8/29/03 (Announcement) Hydraulic Conveyor Added to Conveyor
Line - Cemex, Puerto Rico recently purchased a 200 foot hydraulic
conveyor to be used to move material out of kiln and brick into their
kiln. This is a continuous belt conveyor that can be shortened or lengthened
in 10 foot increments as required. The hydraulic drive allows for variable
speed and extends the possible length restrictions of the electric motor
driven conveyor from a maximum 150 to over 200 feet depending on load.
8/13/03 (Announcement) MOR Upgrades to Older Models -
Are you overloading your older bricking machine? Bricking Solutions
is now offering an upgrade solution to clients with older MOR models
from 6,000 LB gross to 10,000 LB net frame capacities. Call for details.
7/31/03 (Announcement) First Personnel Protection Tunnel
(PPT) - Safety Cage - Sold to ESSROC, Picton, Ontario Canada -
Bricking Solutions is proud to announce that the first production Safety
Cage has been sold to ESSROC in August 2003. Bill Barraugh, President
of Bricking Solutions said this system will allow cement companies to
effect refractory maintenance in upper transition zones without removal
of coating. The system can be broken down into components small enough
to fit through 36 by 36 inch access doors.
Our latest challenge was providing a way one man could install a Personnel Protection Tunnel System. The Transporter is made of lightweight aluminum and custom designed to any kiln access. It attaches to an average universal quick hitch of nay skid steer. With the safety cover protecting the skid steer the Transporter's carrier brackets fit onto end trusses of each individual cage allowing one man to set up the tunnel system under cover and safety. Safety is one of our tip goals, which is why we continue to improve upon a good thing. Shock absorbed columns on our Heavy Duty Safety Cages increase safety to workers. To add stability when two workers are moving the safety cages, shoulder harnesses now come standard. Follow the link to our new brochure showing these two new features. Our Safety / Inspection Cages are designed to protect your workers from falling coating / brick up to 250 lbs (113 kg) from 48 inches (61 cm) with a 3:1 safety factor. Our cages are not designed nor will it protect you from molten coating, heat, or toxic fumes, etc.
A feature of our new Flat Deck bricking machines, the cantilever design makes closing out up kiln or closing out at retaing ring row a breeze. It comes standard with all machines for kilns 14ft diameter and larger. Follow the link to our brochure for more information. Just another way Bricking Solutions is finding solutions for our customers. Got a problem? We can help with the solution. Our Engineering and Design staff enjoy a good challenge!
Our newest bricking machine, the FDEF features hydraulic jacks, screw jacks, and arch hinge connections allowing for the quickest and easiest machine adjustments in the cement kiln refractory industry. With no hardware to change. Its enhanced 17 foot spacious work platform with moveable chained fall protection for easy refractory access up and down kiln has a 10,000 lbs live load frame capacity - the largest in the industry. The arch trolley glides up and down the work platform on an integrated rail system keeping the bricks where they are needed. Incorporated into the trolley is an ergonomic stair step platform to lessen worker fatigue.
To answer our customers request to move loads over 200 feet, Bricking
Solutions redesigned our electric conveyor and incorporated a hydraulic
motor. This is a continuous belt conveyor that can be shortened or
lengthened in 10 foot increments as required. The hydraulic drive
allows for variable speed and extends the possible length restrictions
of the electric motor driven conveyor from a maximum 150 to over 200
feet depending on load. The new design also improved our electric
conveyors by reducing weight for easy transport and added flexibility
with the addition of adjustable legs.
When our customers spoke of the dangers of sending personnel under
coating in order to repair or inspect a section of brick in the upper
transition zones, we were listening. The solution we developed is
a Portable Personnel Protection Tunnel (PPT), or Safety Cage System.
The system has been load tested to withstand 250 LBS impact from a
distance of 2 feet with a four to one safety factor.
Due to increased capacity requirements for bricking machine frames
with the use of two shaped bricks, Bricking Solutions increased the
capacity of the bricking machine with trailer from 10,000 to 15,000
LB net capacity. Additional refinements include a new ladder system,
new Low Boy Trolleys, rail mounted service cart, and rail mounted
pallet cart.
