Bricking Solutions has always tried to provide common sense solutions
to make your work environment safer and more productive. The Safety Inspection Cage
solution was a result of many reported injuries inside of kiln due to
coating falling on workers.
The Problem:
The inside of a kiln after shutdown is a hostile and dangerous environment.
When the kiln starts to cool down there is the uncontrollable build
up of coating and thermal conditions that create an environment of danger.
The coating can shrink or expand and tumble down with hardly any warning.
We always recommend removing the coating with a tear out machine prior
to going into the kiln. For situations where it is not practical to
remove the coating we developed the Safety Inspection Cage as a safe haven when
entering the kiln under coating.
The Solution:
We believe that some protection is much better than no protection
and was a primary consideration when we designed the Safety Inspection Cage. We
firmly believe the Safety Inspection Cage is not the proper answer and that common
sense and good judgment should always be exercised. But the Safety Inspection Cage
may help prevent a minor separation of material from the kiln roof from
turning into a major injury or loss of life. We designed the Safety
Inspection Cage to be installed and adjusted in a way that will allow the users
to push the roof of the cage near (never against) the bottom of the
coating. Then if the coating does break free it will only fall a short
distance onto the roof of the Safety Inspection Cage. It was designed for easy
assembly and has handles to assist in moving the cage into position.
Justification:
-
To offer workers and equipment a safe haven
-
A protective measure against injury or loss of life
-
When doing small patchwork the safety cage offers the mason a margin
of safety
Features:
-
A lightweight, easily assembled Safety Inspection Cage
-
Designed to be carried along while measuring, removing, and installing
refractory
-
Allows personnel, material and equipment to move safely inside your
kiln
-
Used for small patch work
-
There are two standard sizes; custom sizes can also be supplied
-
The frames have legs which are easily adjusted for varying or uneven
