The
Bricking Solutions Refractory Jack was designed and built exclusively
for refractory installation to install each course consistently tighter
for increased refractory life span.
The Problem:
The keying jack is the most critical piece of equipment used in the
tightening of each radial row of brick. The jacking must take place
with each row prior to keying the row in place. When using one of our
bricking machines, the keying operation takes place every 15 minutes.
The masons asked that we streamline this operation.
The Solution:
We decided the best way to come up with a solution was to spend time
with the masons and watch them in operation. It did not take long to
realize the solution. We noticed the masons had to lift the jack (28Kg/60lbs)
up into the keying position and then, with one hand, had to reach down
to activate the hydraulic pump. At times the mason would jar the jack
and lose the proper jacking position as they were trying to activate
the pump. We knew that if we installed a finger valve that was attached
to the jack the mason could hold the jack in place with both hands.
While keeping both hands on the jack and maintaining the proper jack
placement the mason can activate the jack and secure the brick all in
one smooth operation. By developing a pneumatic valve in the jack and
a pneumatic operated valve in the pump we could simply plumb this together
with the hydraulic line and solve a problem with a simple design.
Justification:
-
The masons will be less fatigued and can be more attentive in the
critical keying process
-
Safer method then the older version. Less chances for costly worker
injuries
-
Better management of keying process ensures tighter, more uniform
brick installation.
Features:
-
The jack is designed to give the operator constant radial tightness
on each refractory course assuring better quality control
-
Our jack installs your refractory tighter, resulting in longer refractory
life span
-
Finger tip control for ease of use and increased safety.
