Materials
Basket

Timely feeding of refractory is essential in a kiln outage. When the burn floor cannot be pre-stocked with brick due to limited space, an efficient method for moving quantities of brick to the burn floor is necessary. The materials basket can be used to lift tools and equipment or up to two pallets of bricks to the burn floor as needed by the masons.

The Problem:

One of the most common complaints of the cement and lime plant operational and maintenance personnel is the lack of provisions made in the design of the kiln for the maintenance process. This includes a need for convenient access and a large enough staging area for material handling plus storage.

The Solution:

When there is not enough room on the burn floor, the solution is to establish a staging area on the ground below as near as possible to the burn floor. From there the material must be transported up to the burn floor in an safe and efficient manor. With the burn floor two to three stories above, materials can be safely enclosed in the materials basket and lifted to the burn floor with an overhead hoist or mobile crane. The materials basket can be used to lift tools and equipment or up to two pallets of bricks to the burn floor as needed by the masons.

Justification:

  • Eliminates the need for temporary construction hoist

  • Frees up any permanently installed elevators for other use such as personnel transport

  • The enclosed feature of the basket reduces chance of a lost time accident due to falling material

Features:

  • Heavy duty, light-weight aluminum construction

  • Materials enclosed for safety

  • Wide double opening gates for easy access

  • Forklift pockets for easy transport

  • Low head design for limited overhead clearances
