The
productivity of a bricking machine is limited by the ability to continuously
supply brick to the masons. With the advent of two-shape brick it became
more difficult to meet the supply needs of the masons.
The Problem:
To maintain efficiency of the bricking machine, it is typically loaded
with a pallet of each size brick, dangerously overloading the weight
capacity of the machine. To keep the machine from being overloaded,
sometime the second pallet of brick was held by a forklift at the down
kiln side of the machine. This was not only deemed unsafe by OSHA and
MSHA inspectors, it greatly reduced the availability of the forklift
for other duties.
The Solution:
Frame capacity on new machines has been increased to 10,000 LBS net
with a 3 to 1 safety factor. Old machines were 6,000 LBS gross, but
can be modified to 10,000 LBS net by the factory. With the addition
of a trailer, the frame capacity becomes 15,000 LBS net and capable
of holding two full pallets of brick. The trailer not only adds additional
workspace, it incorporates a rail system on the top deck for two pallet
carts on wheels to facilitate movement of brick on top of the rig.
Justification:
Features:
-
Light-weight heavy duty construction
-
Rail mounted pallet carts
-
Increased work space
-
Rail mounted service cart
-
15,000 LB capacity
